The big barge traffic on the Hudson often results in these large scale rolling waves. It’s magical to watch them travel across the expanse.

Marveling at the progression of colors before my eyes, I did not think it could get any cooler. Then the train came through!

The tow boats with barges of goods don’t stop for the winter. I imagine what the view must be like onboard..

The gathering grey clouds of the imminent summer storm accentuated the green of the trees and scale of the sailboat.

I loved the way the color of the barges echoed the green of the palisades.

Watching the colors change on the palisades is one of my favorite times of year. All up and down the Hudson the trees and bushes turn the most striking multi shades of gold , ruby, and saffron.

One of the last rides before the chill in the air takes hold. The hills look like Fruity Pebbles!

Being out on the Hudson in the mist and cloud is quite other worldly. There is a kind of soothing silence, and a satisfying feeling of micro bubbles of vapor kissing your face.

I loved the contrast of the stars and stripes banner amidst the icy clumps of water.

This was one of those stormy summer days that had the added effect of wildfire smoke. (An all too common thing now days.) It does make for great high and low key photography though.

This felt to me like the ultimate in the expression of not only endurance, but the irresistible pull of exploration of the human spirit.

I love wandering around outside when most people are inside. There is a kind of serenity and excitement in the silence.

I love how the sails complement the shape of the bridge.

Traveling under the Tappan Zee. Different perspectives can show us whole other worlds we didn’t conceive of.

These benches seemed to invite contemplation. They evoke a feeling of solitude and yet also of possibility.

Amazing what you see when youre on the water side! Loved this Yonkers boat house sign..

I love being able to see the landscape on a wide angle. As the tugboat pushes up the river, you can observe the palisades and the landslide that is now filled with trees.
